Parents from Glenmore express dissatisfaction with District's decision to move all bilingual programs to Bradford next academic year
During public comment, parents from Glenmore Elementary spoke out against SAISD's decision to move all bilingual programs to Bradford Elementary. In their arguments, parents said they felt blindsided by the move to close Glenmore's bilingual program.
Viviana Perez, a Glenmore parent, read a letter stating that she believed the move to Bradford for all bilingual programs was a form of school segregation. Another parent said that she and her husband bought a home in Glenmore's school zone for her children to participate in the bilingual program on that campus. Because this item was not on the agenda, Trustees could not comment on the parents' concerns other than just thanking them.
Of note: Perez is sharing the letter she read with sanangelo.news on Tuesday. That letter will run as an op-ed and letter to the editor.
