Four finalists for Economic Development Director position to interview this Friday, a week and a half later

San Angelo, Texas - At the COSADC Meeting on Wednesday morning, Assistant City Manager and Interim Economic Development Director Michael Dane let the Board of Directors know that there are four finalists for the Economic Development Director position. In his update, Dane said that there would be three interviews on Friday, while the last interview would take place a week and a half later.

The search firm that the city is using presented these four candidates, and all of them appeared to be viable candidates, according to comments made by Dane.

Board President Max Puello will be the Board's representative in these four interviews and said that he is looking forward to them.

Dane also mentioned that some of the candidates interested will get a "little tour of the city."

Bob Schneeman, Economic Development Project Manager, jokingly said,

"During the drive around, we'll find out what they're really made of."

This position opened up after former Economic Development Director Guy Andrews resigned from his position last August.

Director Clifton Jones asked, "What is the anticipated start date should the search prove successful."

Dane mentioned that there hasn't been a firm expectation and that they would work with the candidate. Dane also said that he hoped that within 48-72 hours of the last interview, he hoped to have an offer, saying

"I would be surprised if we don't have a decision withing 48-72 hours of that second interview. By the time we meet again, in April, my hope is that we have someone identified. If we allow them four weeks or so to give notice, then maybe by Mid-Late May to Early June to have someone on the ground."

The City of San Angelo Development Corporation is a Type B economic development corporation.

• The COSADC Board honored departing Director John Bariou with a plaque commemorating his service from 2021-23. Michael Dane mentioned that this was Bariou's second term. Board President Max Puello mentioned Bariou helping him immensely when Puello began serving as a Director
• The Board welcomed Steven Mahaffey as a new Director for COSADC.
• The Board also recognized Dezaray Johnson who recently became the ASU SBDC Director.
• Director Joe Spano asked for a discussion and update on the Chamber of Commerce/COSADC contract that was passed during the last meeting. An update will be presented on a future agenda.
